I love you because...

Today marks the day when my Daddy, Edward Wayne Blanford was born. Today he turns 51.
Today I want to say this:

Daddy, I love you because I think you are an amazing, hard working man. Although our family has had ups and downs, I know in my heart of hearts how much you love Scotty, myself and Momma. I know there are some decisions you would have changed, some situations you would have lived out differently. Through the rough times and even today, I see all of that love in your eyes-just know that. I love you because I see the way you look at my kids when they yell, "Poooppppppie!!" and come running into your arms for a big hug-it's the same way you looked at me when I was little. I love you because I see the way you look at me now, all grown up and leading my family down a righteous path. I love you because you are secretly an emotional man and even though you only allow your emotions to run once in a million years, I know it feels good for you to let it all out. I love you because you are so down to earth. I love you because I can walk outside, down a dirt road barefoot-I think I get the tough skin on my feet from you. I love you because I know how much you love Grandma and Grandpa and the respect I see you give them makes me admire you. I love you because you like to throw up bunny ears in all of the pictures you are in. I love you because you cried when you walked me down the aisle and gave me to Travis-I will forever have embedded in my memory that tear drop I saw fall from your nose when you said, "Her Momma and me". I love you because at the drop of a hat you are there for me. I love you because I swear Kollin gets his knobby knees from you :) I love you because I can call you about anything vehicular or homestead and 99.9% of the time, you know the answer. I love you because you are my Daddy.

Here are some pictures from our birthday dinner with my Daddy. Lasagna and sweet tea were on the menu, requested by the birthday boy himself. And of course, we had cake :)

Happy Birthday Pops!

  1. I always read your posts but this one has to be my favorite. I read it with tears running down my face. I lost my Daddy 7 years ago and so I missed out on him walking me down the aisle and on Alexa getting to know him. Its nice to see someone who loves and respects their Daddy, so many young people don't know what they have. Just wanted to let you know, I love your blog and thanks for always sharing your life and cute stories.
