Simple Saturday ... Sensational Sunday

The husband was gone on a Men's Retreat with our church Friday and part of Saturday.

He was gone less than 24 hours and according to the boys, it felt like it had been two years.

I was awaiting his arrival yesterday afternoon and if the boys had asked once about when Daddy was coming home, they asked one thousand times. No matter if it has been one hour or five days, seeing him after being home with our four crazy boys is like a breath of fresh air.

We decided with it being Saturday night and all, we'd spice things up a bit and head to the movies. I know - we're animals.

And yes. We are the cheapos who wait patiently for the movies to go to the dollar theater before we see them. You won't catch this Momma paying 10 bucks a ticket just to be shushing the kids more than actually watching the movie. Not even to a movie that Kollin was actually in.

10 dollars for all of us?

That's more like it.

So yes. You read right. In 2011, Kollin and I were extras in the movie Parental Guidance with Billy Crystal and Bette Midler. It came out Christmas Day and we've been waiting for it to hit the dollar theater. The movie was actually pretty cute. I was very pleased with it being kid friendly, there was a great storyline and moral ending. I liked it.

Of course the highlight of the movie was seeing Kollin quite a few times in the background. I have to admit, I was disappointed not to see myself on the big screen, but overly excited to see Kollin up there. He was more than thrilled.

We ended the night at home with flossing, brushing teeth, pottying and reading another daunting chapter in our book Dinosaurs Before Dark

It was a simple Saturday night. And it rocked.

...

Sunday morning was a little off. Kollin and I spent the majority of the night (from about 1am to 6am) on the couch with his tummy bothering him. He has always been that kid to be completely cool and in 5 minutes have a fever of 104°. And that's pretty much what happened. I felt this fireball of a baby come crawl into my bed. Of course my theory is to let 1 parent sleep, so Kollin and I headed downstairs to the couch for some cartoons. After Good Luck Charlie, Phineas and Ferb, A.N.T. Farm and several trips to the bathroom, we finally fell into a good sleep just as soon as Kruz woke up for the day.

Kollin, Kohen and I stayed home from church.

I feel like this totally throws my weekend off. But it is what it is. I decided to take advantage of being home this quiet morning and did my first batch of freezer cooking.

My Momma made a special trip to check on Kollin and after making him a tray of goodies, she joined me in the kitchen. (Thanks Momma for helping me out!) I only accomplished 4 meals, but hey - that's 4 meals I did not have ready to go for this week when I got up this morning. I made 2 batches of Sausage and Peppers and two batches of Teriyaki Chicken. The recipes I used came from Ring Around the Rosies

I am as excited as a kid in a candy store.

So my Sunday morning was spent in the kitchen and my Sunday afternoon was sensational. My MawMaw made her famous spaghetti for lunch and my cousin Heather visited us there too. I love seeing family I don't get to see often. I am reminded just how blessed my family is, immediate and extended. After lunch my Momma and I had an afternoon planned that included Starbucks and Ikea.

Oh Ikea, how I love thee.

We spent so many hours in there and had a blast! Kohen was our date for the afternoon and seriously, we could not have asked for a better baby. He just rode along in his Moby flirting with the pretty girls and smacking his lips (his newest discovery).

I got what I went for (a new dresser for the boys) and some other little things too.

I love getting the little things.

A new vase for mine and Travis' room, a few white picture frames, some goodies for our classroom, a mini ironing board and dust pan to keep upstairs, two candle holders and some other stuff too.

All in all, this weekend was wonderful! I finally got to see Kollin on the big screen, I accomplished my first go at freezer cooking and spent some much needed time with my Momma.

I'm going to bed one happy lady.

Hope everyone else had a great weekend too!

    1. I know!! We need to plan a girl's night out or something for when you get back. I guess I might could just settle for a play date ...
