Recouping ...

So picture this.

Here I am. Sitting on the back porch with a quilt over my legs (I just like the way a quilt feels) and I'm blogging. I love hearing the birds chirp and watching Sofie wiggle and scratch her back in the grass. It's the perfect Spring temperature. Not too hot and not too cool. The husband and our three oldest have made yet another run to Home Depot to pick up a few more things to finish up our garden and Kohen is snoozin' good in his swing.

Guess that's a good thing about having all boys. When Daddy goes to Home Depot, all the big boys want to go.

And I think I'm freaking this one bird out. It has a nest built under the roof of our pergola and I'm sitting underneath it. Not directly underneath it. That would be dumb. That's all I need ... a little bird poo on my head. Anyway, it keeps flying from the nest to a bush to a tree to a chair and back to it's nest. I really think I am freaking this thing out and I keep waiting for it to come flutter it's wings all in my face. And then that would freak me out. Oh well. Cheers to nature.

So we got back from Disney and visiting my brother's family last week. And it has taken me an entire week to recoup.

We finally finished up our downstairs bathroom on Monday. And as much as any one person can be in love with a small half-bath ... I am that person. It started out this rose color (total mistake on my part when we first moved in) with a free standing sink and a toilet of course. Now it is a neutral color with hints of white and teal and a few other colors. We added a sink with white cabinets, therefore making it functional. I finally have a spot to hide extra toilet paper, hand towels, diapers, wipes and Febreeze. It truly is the little things that make a Momma happy.

The rest of the week I spent organizing our school room, tackling clothes, finally getting  a chance to decorate the mantle since we moved the TV and chopping my hair off.

Oh yes I did

And I love it.

Why did I do it? I'd like to say I was "Lanie-Inspired". A friend of mine chopped hers off and wrote about why she did it here. I really don't know which set of words made me yearn for the cut more than any of the others. I realized I needed a change. Something to make me feel bold again. And sexy. And I guess you could say I got my groove back. It feels so wonderful being off of my neck and I don't have to worry about having a ponytail holder on my wrist when I leave the house. And Travis loves it too. It's a win/win in my book.

Kollin's words?
"Um. I just can't even take you seriously with your hair like that."

Guess you can't win them all

This entire weekend has been full of love. One of my closest and dearest friends was proposed to surrounded by a flash mob and her friend's and family. It was pretty amazing being a part of it all. We ended Saturday night celebrating at Shout in Atlanta.

Yesterday my sister-in-law and her dude tied the knot at Del Avante in Lagrange. The venue was so gorgeous and I was privileged to be the one capturing the day behind my camera. Travis was one of the groomsmen, this was his first wedding as one of those. I'm not going to lie. He was pretty stoked about it. Kinda cute if you ask me. Kruz stayed back with my Momma, Kohen was passed around throughout the occasion and the other two boys danced their little hearts out. It was a pretty darn good night.

I hear the husband pulling back up and I think I was supposed to have dinner ready when they got back. Whoops. Looks like it's those leftovers from the wedding last night for dinner. The kids'll never know I didn't slave over that turkey with gravy and mashed potatoes.

Happy Memorial Day!!

    1. I just sat here and told my Hubs he needs to snap a new picture of me. I'll add that on my To-Do List. Lord knows when I actually look decent to go anywhere we're rushed and have NO time to pose for a picture. lol.

  6. I'll also say this, since I've started eating at
the suggested rations (Mike's recommendations) man has it made a difference!! It really is difficult to eat in those ratios, but as long as you plan ahead, it really is manageable. When do you feel you are going to start your plan?
